Timing

I think I've mentioned I have multiple free-lance jobs right now.  One of them is for my old firm, running training calls for the branch employees.  Because they're a financial services firm, any serious training they do is often on the weekend, since they can't really do training when the stock market is open.

This week, as I was looking at my calendar and realizing I had a lot on it for today (including watching my BIL get baptized!), I realized I'd penciled in that I had a conference call today.  The scary thing was it didn't have a time attached to it.  At the time, I feared the worst - that the work call I had already obligated myself to would interfere not  only with the baptism service, but with my other obligation at my own church - hanging with the 2-year-olds at the 11:00 service.  With great trepidation, I emailed my contact to ask if there was still a call on Sunday, and if so, had the time been set?  I just knew it would conflict with both other things I wanted to do today.  And then the email came back:  8:30 ET!  Now I know what you're thinking:  she's excited about a 6:30 call on a Sunday morning?  And the answer is an unequivocal YES!

Here was my thought process:
  1. Conference call at 6:30, done by 7:30 at the latest.
  2. Go for a walk.
  3. Shower.
  4. Hang with the Twos at the 11:00.
  5. Go to brother's baptism service.
  6. Come home and rest.

Although the day would be starting early, it worked out perfectly, AND I'd be paid for that first item on the list!

Fast forward to a very short night last night.  Here's what actually happened:
  1. Get up at the crack, not quite so cheery about this day as I thought I'd be.  And yet, it's a beautiful one.
  2. Have conference call, which goes well.
  3. Think seriously about going back to bed.
  4. See a dear Chicago friend post on FB that she's going for a run/walk.  Become encouraged to do the same.
  5. Take the short, fast, very uphill walk to the dogpark.
  6. Get a chance to pray and thank God for this beautiful day, pray for the BIL, pray for the people getting ready for the 9:00 service at church, and listen to some good music.

... all while sweating like a pig :)
